{Eczema Relief Tips for Summer Season}

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Most of us love the summer season but for those who suffer from Eczema its symptoms can sometimes worsen, caused by the heat and humidity and perspiration.
Others find summer helpful to eczema skin and that winter to be the tough season on their skin, I gathered some tips to ease on the symptoms in these hot summer days some of these tipsI found to be working for my skin in earlier years when my immune system was screaming for help.

 Sunscreen with an SPF of 15 to 30 is a must. Wear a hat and sunglasses are also highly recommended if you are sitting in the direct sunlight, Avoid overly greasy sunscreens, Lotions are better than those in gel form. Try to find one that contains titanium dioxide base and is designed for sensitive skin.

 Stay OUT of the sun, stay IN the shade and keep cool and dry as much as possible especially between the hours of 10am and 4pm when the sun exposure is the most powerful.

 Plan your summer outdoor activities for early morning hours or early evening when it is cooler.

 The sun can be hard on the system; people with a weaker immune system tend to tire even more quickly. Take an afternoon nap on a hot summer day to recharge your body and give you energy for the rest of the day.

 You can sunburn much worse in the water than out of the water, so if you are in a swimming pool, lake or the ocean, reapply sunscreen every time you come out of the water, remember: there is no waterproof sunscreen, it’s recommended to wear a tee shirt over your bathing suit to protect your arms and chest area. You can burn even on cloudy days in the summer due to the more intense ultraviolet rays.
